The State Universities and Colleges Teachers and Educators Association(SUCTEA)-Region VI spearheaded the National Conference with the theme <\/span>\u201cRevolutionizing Education in the Era of Artificial Intelligence\u201d<\/span><\/strong>, April 10-11, 2025 held at Diversion 21 Hotel, Benigno Aquino Avenue, Diversion Road, Mandurriao, Iloilo City. The event was attended by the selected faculty members of Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) Leon Campus. Among them were Dr. Julito C. Aligaen, Ms. Marika Anne V. Antonio, Ms. Maryflor Tacardon and Engr. Reynaldo C. Juance and Mr. Gerald C. Zaragosa. State Universities and Colleges (SUC) officials, faculty, and graduate school students were also invited to participate in the conference.<\/span><\/p>

The conference aimed to provide educators across the country with the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and strategies to remain relevant in delivering higher quality education amidst the rapid technological advancement. Distinguished speakers were Dr. Garry Cachuella, who provided updates from the Teacher Education Council; Dr. Ramil G. Lumauag discussed Artificial Intelligence in Research; Mr. Esperval Cezhar Cadiao, on Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Learning and Dr. Luis M. Sorolla, Jr., presented updates from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).<\/span><\/p>

In relation with the theme Dr. Aligaen presented a study titled \u201cSustainability Science as a Neo-normal: A Case Study.\u201d The study highlighted the inadequacies of traditional classroom setting in addressing complex socio- scientific, environmental, and economic issues. Dr. Aligaen emphasized \u201cneo-normal\u201d, as the need for adaptation and mitigation strategies in the face of climate change.<\/span><\/p>

His study suggested that rather than maintaining the status quo or denying global warming and climate change, educators and researchers must take proactive steps to prevent the irreversible consequences of this matter. One of the concrete example he cited was the occurrence of the extreme climatic condition, such as heat waves, which exceeded beyond the limits habitable to human were considered as abnormal.<\/span><\/p>

Dr. Aligaen, concluded his presentation stressing that \u201ceverything is connected to everything else\u201d. His presentation was a reminder of the vital role of educators in cultivating a generation that is not only AI- competent but also environmentally conscious.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
