AgriRun: For Health, Farmers, and Future

Hundreds of shoes hit the pavement of the Municipality of Leon at dawn as runners sprinted toward the finish line during the AgriRun 2026. Students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and external participants, ran the streets while wearing their white and green AgriRun singlet, turning the morning into an energy and fun.

As part of the 79th Founding Anniversary of Iloilo Science and Technology University Leon Campus, the university organized the event to promote health, fitness, and community engagement while celebrating another year of excellence and service.

Anchored on the theme “Run for Health. Run for Farmers. Run for Future “, the event also underscored the celebration of agriculturists month and paid homage to the farmers, whose hard work sustain the country.

Held on July 19, the AgriRun featured 1K, 3K, and 5K distance categories. The course started from the ISAT U Leon Campus ground and ran through the boundary of Isian Norte for 5K, Tina-an Sur for 3K and around town proper for 1K, finishing back at the university’s gate.

For the 3K Male Category who took the triumph included: Cristopher Deocampo (1st placer), Kyle Calambro (2nd placer), and Jeffil Marl Soliva (3rd placer). While for the 3K Female Category were: Michaela Cabutad (1st placer), Coolen Kate Talha (2nd placer), and Kyla Joy Tuante (3rdplacer). For the 5K Male Category who swept through the finish line comprised: Carl Joseph Andutan (1st placer), Johnel Owen Tuboc (2nd placer), and Jaccobe Oliver Lagatan (3rd placer). For the 5K Female Category included: Bernadith Capadicio (1st placer), Hannah Marie Traviña (2nd placer), and Arlene Talite (3rd placer).

All winners received their medals and cash prizes from the donors, Mrs. Michelle Caisido Porquez, Mrs. Jonah Canatoy Caigoy, and Mrs. Lilia Cabaluna Gaitan. Consolation prizes through a raffle draw were also given to 20 runners in all distance categories. AgriRun participants received seedlings, and children runners received a loot bag courtesy of the university. A post-run Zumba dance to keep their energy high until the end was performed.
