Fueling Excellence: Participation of ISAT-U Leon Campus Faculty in Pre-Opening Conference

    The pre-opening conference for faculty stands as a significant event in preparing for a successful academic term. On January 10, 2024, Dr. Rafael C. Cabarles led the faculty from ISAT-U Leon Campus to participate in the pre-opening conference, which brought together faculty members from ISAT-U Lapaz Campus and external campuses. The conference took place at Punta Villa Resort, Inc., situated in Villa Arevalo, Iloilo City.

     Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre, Jr., the university president of ISAT-U, cordially welcomed faculty members from all campuses. He shared insights into the recent board meeting proceedings, expressing satisfaction with the increased university budget for 2024. Stressing the importance of unifying faculty across all campuses, he emphasized that it signifies solidarity and ensures equitable attention to each campus, preventing neglect.

     Several distinguished officials provided updates pertinent to their specific areas of responsibility: Dr. Russ Allen B. Napud, VP for Administration and Finance, addressed administrative matters; Dr. Nemia H. Mabaquiao, VP for External Affairs, focused on external affairs; Dr. Carmelo V. Ambut, VP for Research and Extension, highlighted updates concerning research and extension activities; and Dr. Corazon C. Corbal, VP for Academic Affairs, offered updates related to academic affairs.

     Moreover, during the conference, Dr. Lino B. Balderona, the faculty regent, provided an update on the faculty association. Ms. Nelfa J. Ampatuan discussed RA No. 6713, which establishes a code of conduct and ethical standards for public officials and employees. Throughout her session, she reminded attendees about the responsibilities outlined for public officials and employees under this act. Atty. Chito John J. Colonia offered a comprehensive discussion on RA 11313, known as the Safe Spaces Act or Bawal Bastos Law, highlighting its scope, significance, and associated penalties.

     Finally, an open forum offered a platform for faculty members to openly share their ideas, opinions, and concerns. Various issues emerged during discussions, encompassing academic matters, school infrastructure, personal and official travel, among others. Additionally, suggestions were proposed on how the university could further enhance its operations. Notably, the administration displayed proactive engagement by proposing solutions to the raised issues. Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre, Jr., emphasized the importance of collective effort, underscoring that with everyone’s involvement, no challenge is insurmountable. He highlighted the significance of each individual fulfilling their responsibilities.
