ISAT U Public Information and Communication Office Conducts Strategic Planning and Professional Development Bootcamp

The ISAT U Public Information and Communication Office (PICO) conducted a strategic planning and professional development boot camp from February 22-24, 2024, at St. Vincent Cottages Resort, Dee and Timmy Side, Boracay, Aklan. The event was attended by PICO coordinators from ISAT U main campus and all external campuses. May Flor Tacardon, PICO coordinator of the Leon Campus, participated in the activity.

Dr. Heinz B. Gumaquil, PICO director of the ISAT U, warmly welcomed everyone. He enthusiastically highlighted the achievements of the office, which were made possible through the help and support of the administration and the PICO team.

On behalf of Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre Jr., Dr. Russ Allen B. Napud, Vice President for Administration and Finance, delivered an inspirational message. He highlighted the importance of PICO and unity and cooperation in the university. ‘It is our responsibility to support each other, and PICO as a frontrunner plays a vital role in the operations of the university,’ he said.

Dr. Russ Allen B. Napud discussed strategic planning, emphasizing that the Philippine government allocates an annual budget to the university. In return, the university is expected to meet certain deliverables, such as ensuring a high licensure exam pass rate, conducting research beneficial to the community, facilitating graduate employment, among others. PICO can play a pivotal role in realizing these objectives by spearheading initiatives such as rebranding the university through promotional videos and attracting high-quality students.

In addition, other topics discussed include Basic Journalism by Dr. Olive Joy Abing; Headline and Lead Writing by Lucille Jaspe; Content Marketing by Jovette Aimee Arceta; Social Media Security Awareness by Rommel Griffith Habarada; and Photography/Photojournalism by Reynaldo Ilangos. These topics are packed with valuable knowledge, and participants gained a lot from them. Furthermore, participants had a hands-on photography session at Puka Beach, where they captured images and presented their outputs afterward.

With the knowledge, skills and friendship gained from the bootcamp, the participants are motivated to do their job better in serving the university.
