ISAT-U Leon Campus Observes National Hazing Prevention Week with Anti-Hazing Seminar
In observance of National Hazing Prevention Week on February 9, 2026, Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) Leon Campus held an Anti-Hazing Seminar carrying the theme “Be the Leader. Prevent Hazing” and the call #NoToHazing. The activity was attended by students, faculty, and staff to promote awareness and strengthen the university’s commitment to a safe and respectful academic environment.
The seminar featured Mrs. Mary Antonette A. Baylosis, the University’s Legal Coordinator, who emphasized the importance of analyzing the pivot, knowing the consequences, and defining responsibility. She encouraged students to make informed decisions and to resist harmful practices influenced by peer pressure or tradition. She also highlighted the serious legal and personal consequences of hazing and stressed that everyone must share the responsibility to prevent and report such acts.
Mrs. Baylosis discussed Republic Act No. 8049 and its amendment, Republic Act No. 11053 (Anti-Hazing Act of 2018), which strengthens penalties and holds individuals and organizations accountable for hazing-related incidents.
As a symbol of unity and support, students, faculty, and staff had their signatures affixed in the Commitment Wall and Anti-Hazing Covenant, pledging to promote a hazing-free campus. The activity reflected ISAT-U Leon Campus’s dedication to fostering leadership, accountability, and a culture of respect and safety.
