
ISAT U Leon Campus Joins the 2024 Wet Season Lakbay Palay of DA-PhilRice
Faculty and students from ISAT U Leon Campus, led by Campus Administrator Dr. Gilbert Stanly D. Baylosis, participated in the Lakbay Palay 2024 Wet Season event held at the Philippine Rice Research Institute in Cansilayan, Murcia, Negros Occidental, last October 22-23, 2024.
This annual event showcases innovative rice and rice-based farming technologies, with a focus on promoting sustainable practices and improving rice farming productivity. Participants engaged in hands-on demonstrations, interactive discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions with agricultural experts.
The event provided valuable insights into modern farming practices, highlighting both the challenges and opportunities in rice cultivation. Through this experience, attendees enhanced their understanding of sustainable agriculture, equipping them with skills critical for shaping the future of farming.
Additionally, the event highlighted the latest advancements in climate-resilient rice varieties and eco-friendly pest management techniques. These innovations aim to meet the evolving needs of rice farmers, ensuring food security and promoting environmental sustainability in the face of climate change.
The Lakbay Palay is a regular initiative of PhilRice designed to showcase a variety of rice production technologies and practices. It plays a vital role in supporting farmers and assisting local government units (LGUs) in achieving rice self-sufficiency and maintaining a stable rice supply.
