Iloilo Science and Technology University Leon Campus Celebrates 76th Founding Anniversary
Iloilo Science and Technology University Leon Campus celebrated its 76th Founding Anniversary with the theme, “Celebrating Tradition, Embracing Innovation” last July 17, 2023. This theme was chosen to emphasize the university’s rich history and accomplishments while highlighting its commitment to embracing new ideas. The celebration started with a thanksgiving mass officiated by Fr. Manuel P. Gonzales and followed by a caravan from the university to Brgy. Buga and Brgy. Pandan, Leon Iloilo.
In her opening remarks Mrs. Mary Antonette Baylosis described ISAT- U Leon Campus as a metamorphosis from the past to the present. “We need to own our institution and give our commitment to it”, said Mrs. Baylosis. Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Corazon P. Corbal congratulated the ISAT-U Leon Campus for its 76th founding anniversary and accomplishments. She stated that innovation is an important factor in research and everyone should be equipped with knowledge so that ISAT-U Leon Campus will not be left behind. She challenged the faculty to strive more to produce more topnotchers, good products, and quality graduates.
Sangguniang Bayan Jethro M. Caigoy, representing Mayor Ma. Lina C. Holipas also graced the gathering. He stressed that progress is impossible without change and it is necessary to embrace innovation. He added that the local government of Leon, Iloilo is happy to work hand in hand with the university.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Corazon P. Corbal led the induction of new set of Faculty and Staff Association (FSA) Inc. officers and she was assisted by the campus administrator, Dr. Julito C. Aligaen. Mr. Michael Ray J. Burlas, the outgoing FSA Inc. expressed his gratitude to all the faculty and staff who supported all activities and programs of the organization especially during the pandemic. Dr. Jerson J. Jaurigue, the incoming FSA Inc. president thanked all his colleagues who believe in him. He encouraged the support and cooperation of all the members of the FSA Inc. during his term.
Dr. Julito C. Aligaen, the campus administrator and assisted by Dr. Corazon P. Corbal gave certificates to loyalty awardees, previous Faculty and Staff Association Inc. (FSA) officers and previous campus administrators. Mr. Jovito T. Montaño, OIC campus administrator in 1978, attended the celebration.
Dr. Julito C. Aligaen, expressed his gratitude to the staff, faculty, students, farmers, guests and to all the people who made the event a successful one.
