ISAT-U Leon Campus Faculty and Staff Attend the Investiture for the 2nd President of ISAT-U, Dr. Gabriel Salistre, Jr.
The Iloilo Science and Technology University held an investiture for its 2nd University President on January 19, 2024, at the Multi-purpose Educational Center. The ceremony was attended by university presidents from state universities and colleges in Western Visayas, regional directors of different government agencies, the board of regents, faculty and staff from various ISAT-U campuses, as well as friends, mentors, and family members of the university president.
Overall, the investiture rites were officiated by Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chair Dr. J. Prospero De Vera III. The ceremony included the reading of the appointment as university president, the presentation and donning of the academic regalia, presentation and turnover of the university mace, and the signing of the oath of office.
In his speech, Dr. Gabriel Salistre, Jr. expressed sincere gratitude to those who supported him, including former professors, friends, colleagues, immediate family members, and relatives. He also thanked the ISAT U community for trusting and believing in him.
In his pursuit of positioning ISAT U as a premier science and technology university in Southeast Asia by 2030, Dr. Salistre has articulated a comprehensive 10-point agenda. This strategic plan encompasses key focus areas, including fostering academic excellence, promoting innovation and research, enhancing industry partnerships, and strengthening community engagement. Furthermore, he places significant emphasis on fostering inclusivity and diversity, enhancing infrastructure and facilities, and promoting global engagement.
The agenda also underscores the importance of resource generation and sustainability, good governance, and fostering a strong working relationship with the university’s alumni. Through these initiatives, he envisions ISAT U not only as a hub for academic excellence but also as a catalyst for innovation, industry collaboration, and global prominence. He emphasizes that the realization of these objectives is achievable through the collective collaboration of everyone involved.
The investiture ceremony brought joy to the faculty and staff of ISAT U Leon Campus, uplifting their spirits and fostering a sense of pride and commitment. Their enthusiasm is now heightened, motivating them to redouble their efforts in turning the aspirations of ISAT U into tangible realities.
