Dr. Camarista inspires students at the First Semester Recognition Program
Beverly Sills once said, “There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.” This quote reflects its meaning as the inspirational speaker for the recognition program, Dr. Judy Mosquera Camarista, narrated her life story. Dr. Camarista is currently an Instructor I of ISAT U Leon Campus, and also serving in Planning, Development, and Auxiliary Services. Before she joined this institution, she dedicated 16 years of service to the Department of Education, where she cultivated her passion and lifelong learning. However, before she reached her current place and title, Dr. Camarista also experienced her fair share of struggles.
In her speech, she recited her favorite line from the poem Invictus by William Ernest Henley: “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.” She explained that this line was one thing she relied on the most to get through hard times, even when they felt unbearable, believing that if others can do it, she also can. She narrated the challenges and difficulties a woman encounters in giving birth, and even after her delivery, her life was not easy as she had to attend to her school responsibilities, juggling her life as a student and a mother at the same time.
Her journey is like any other—she faced challenges and responsibilities that could have hindered her goals, but she still persisted. Several years after earning her bachelor’s degree, she pursued her master’s degree and eventually earned her doctoral degree. Her life taught her that it is not about how quickly you achieve your dreams, but about your willingness to keep moving forward despite life’s obstacles.
Her life path not only brought inspiration to everyone, but it also reflected the truth of how success worked. She ended her speech with a beautiful reminder to the students: “Aim higher, dream bigger, and remain steadfast in your journey. Buckle up, as there are more challenges ahead; let your experiences today remind you that you are capable of overcoming anything.
