ISAT U Leon Campus Recognizes Dean’s Listers for the First Semester of AY 2025-2026
The Iloilo Science and Technology University Leon Campus beamed with pride as the institution gathered to honor its highest- achieving students in the First Semester Recognition Program, Academic Year 2025- 2026, held at ISAT U Covered Gym.
With the theme, “ISAT U Students Rooted in Faith, Formed in Excellence, Leading with Competence and Character,” the event highlighted not only academic achievement but also holistic growth.
The program began with a welcome remark from Ms. Maryflor Cansancio, Head of Instruction. She shared a meaningful verse from the book of Romans, emphasizing that true success is built on faith, shaped by hard work, and marked by integrity. She also quoted a phrase from the late Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” encouraging students to use their knowledge and character to make a difference, continue aiming high, remain humble, and serve others.
Each certificate received by the students is not merely a token of academic achievement but also a symbol of perseverance and discipline. More importantly, it reflects the university’s relentless dedication to providing quality education and fostering a nurturing learning environment–one that shapes future educators, innovators, and agriculturists who are ready to lead with competence and character.
Before the recognition program drew to a conclusion, Ms. Gaivereal M. Tagabe of Bachelor of Technical- Vocational Teacher Education, major in Agricultural Crops Production 4-A, and Mr. John Lennard T. Calopez of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, major in Animal Science 4-A, delivered their responses.
Ms. Tagabe began her message by acknowledging that our (together with other students) educational journey was not easy. Despite the struggles and challenges we encountered along the way, we persevered, which led us to the recognition we are celebrating today. She emphasized that the recognition was not merely a moment of celebration, but also a testament–a response and proof that while others may perceive our work as simple or mediocre, we carry responsibilities and purposes far greater than what others can imagine. She highlighted that we are more than what we are often perceived to be.
In addition, Mr. Calopez shared a glimpse of his personal story. He recounted living a simple and seemingly monotonous routine–waking up early, cooking, feeding his sibling, starting the engine of his motorcycle, and then going to school. However, one particular moment stood out to him. While sharing a drink with a friend, he came to a realization. His friend opened up about his life, which made him realize how different their lives were. His friend, who also attends school, often struggles to stay awake in class due to exhaustion from waking up early to tend to work. While Mr. Calopez had the convenience of riding a motorcycle to school, his friend had to run if he missed his jeepney to attend classes.
In the closing remarks, Ms. Jessa Palicte, head of the Office of Student Affairs and Services, shared her wisdom to be remembered, that the ceremony is not the end but only the beginning of a greater responsibility, and that is to move forward and be the leaders of our community–leaders who lead with heart, skill, and unwavering integrity and encouraging tradeans to soar high and remain forever rooted in what matters the most.
The event was hosted by Ms. Jean Rose C. Nueros and Mr. John Arnie G. Talite.
