ISAT U Leon Celebrates 78th Founding Anniversary
The Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) Leon Campus celebrated its 78th Founding Anniversary from July 14–17, 2025, through a series of meaningful activities highlighting environmental advocacy, faculty development, institutional recognition, and community building.
Anchored on the theme “Innovating, Integrating, Inspiring: Honoring the Past, Building the Future,” the celebration reflected the campus’ continued commitment to academic excellence, sustainability, and service to the community.
The four-day celebration opened on July 14 with a tree-growing activity participated in by faculty, staff, and students, demonstrating the campus’ commitment to environmental stewardship. This was followed by a Holy Mass and an opening program that featured an environmental talk and the observance of Philippine Agriculturists Month.
A key highlight of the program was the launching of Project Luntian, an initiative aimed at promoting environmental awareness and strengthening green practices on campus. The event also included a ceremonial Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing with partner institutions, reinforcing collaboration for academic and community development.
In the afternoon, faculty researchers participated in a Research In-House Review, providing a platform for the presentation and evaluation of research outputs. The day concluded with fun and recreational activities for faculty and staff, promoting camaraderie among employees.
On July 15, faculty members and non-teaching personnel attended a Capability-Building Training Workshop titled “Rethinking Qualitative Research: Philosophical Foundations for Gender-Responsive and Meaningful Practice,” held at Bearland Paradise Beach Resort. The workshop was facilitated by Michael G. Garlan, who emphasized the importance of conducting gender-responsive and inclusive research that responds to the needs of society.
The training aimed to enhance faculty members’ understanding of qualitative research and encourage more meaningful and socially relevant scholarly work. In the evening, the campus community gathered for a Fellowship Night, which also served as a welcome program for newly hired faculty and staff, fostering stronger relationships and collegiality within the institution.
The celebration continued on July 16, 2025, with team-building activities designed to strengthen teamwork, cooperation, and unity among faculty and staff.
The culminating program was held on July 17, 2025, marking the official 78th Founding Anniversary of the ISAT U Leon Campus. The celebration was graced by the presence of Gabriel M. Salistre Jr., University President, whose attendance underscored the university administration’s support for the continued development of the campus.
Highlights of the anniversary program included the oath-taking of the newly elected Faculty and Staff Association (FSA) officers, the ceremonial turnover of responsibilities, and the recognition of retired faculty and staff for their dedicated years of service to the institution.
Adding vibrancy to the celebration, talented faculty and staff presented special performances showcasing their creativity and talents. In the afternoon, the campus community participated in “Laro ng Lahi,” featuring traditional Filipino games that promoted camaraderie while celebrating Filipino cultural heritage.
The celebration not only honored the 78 years of service and excellence of ISAT U Leon Campus but also reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, collaboration, and inspiration in shaping the future of education and community development.
