ISAT U Leon Campus Alumni Association Celebrates 6th Grand Alumni Homecoming

The ISAT U Leon Campus Alumni Association, Inc. successfully hosted its 6th Grand Alumni Homecoming on December 21-22, 2024, bringing together alumni from 1952 to 2024 under the theme, “Come Home! Renew Bonds. Build New Memories.” The two-day event celebrated the rich history and achievements of the institution, which has evolved from Leon High School to Leon National Agricultural School (LNAS), Leon National College of Agriculture (LNCA), the Western Visayas College of Science and Technology (WVCST), and now as Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U).

The celebration began with a caravan through the poblacion of Leon, Iloilo, where alumni proudly wore white shirts and carried banners representing their respective batches. This was followed by a Thanksgiving Mass officiated by Reverend Father Herminio Tacardon, who inspired attendees with his homily emphasizing hope, perseverance, and faith in God.

During the opening program, Alumni Association President Mr. Ray C. Cabarles welcomed attendees, reminding them of their shared connection as one family despite the institution’s name changes. Campus Administrator Dr. Gilbert Stanly D. Baylosis highlighted the homecoming as a celebration of alumni accomplishments, warmly stating, “You’re not a visitor; you’re part of the family. Welcome back home.” The program concluded with heartfelt remarks from Ms. Marika Anne V. Antonio, Alumni Coordinator, who acknowledged the collective efforts of alumni, officers, and committee members in making the event successful.

In the evening, the university paid tribute to its retirees, recognizing their invaluable contributions to ISAT U Leon Campus’s legacy.

The second day began with a Grand Parade, symbolizing the unity and pride of the alumni community. The festivities continued with the induction of newly elected officers, led by university president Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre Jr. Mr. Ray C. Cabarles was re-elected as president and expressed gratitude for the trust and support of his fellow alumni. Dr. Salistre delivered an inspiring message, emphasizing three pillars of leadership:

1.Leadership is Service.

2.Leadership Requires Integrity.

3.A Leader Must Have Vision and Purpose.

Dr. Salistre also encouraged alumni to give back to ISAT U Leon Campus, underscoring the importance of contributing to the institution’s mission of delivering quality education.

The evening concluded with the coronation of the Alumni Queen 2024, Merle Camarista Ramos, escorted by Josue C. Camarista Sr. from the LNAS Cluster. The ceremony, graced by Municipal Mayor Ma. Lina C. Holipas, featured the pinning of sashes and presentation of bouquets, adding elegance and tradition to the celebration.

The 6th Grand Alumni Homecoming fostered a sense of gratitude, leadership, and unity among attendees, reflecting the enduring legacy of ISAT U Leon Campus and the strong bonds of its alumni community.
