
ISAT U Leon Campus Faculty and Staff attend a 2-day training on Financial Monitoring and Management
Striving for the progressive development of our university, Dr. Eric James P. Talagon, Head Research Services/Senior Faculty Researcher together with Dr. Christian C. Taba, Assistant Professor I, and Mrs. Melanie C. Caluyo, Accountant II, attended a two day-training on financial monitoring and management for the on-going research projects under the Department of Science and Technology, Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development- Grants-in Aid Program (DOST-PCAARRD-GIA) This event took place last March 26-27, 2025 at the La Breza Hotel in Quezon City, Manila. The training effectively gathered a diverse group of implementing agencies, accountants, and accounting staff from several state universities, colleges, and research consortia involved in coconut hybridization in the Philippines.
The two-day training gathered all implementing agencies, accountants, and accounting staff from state universities, colleges, and research consortia involved in coconut hybridization in the country. The sessions focused on updating budget utilization and financial reporting for the research projects with expert guidance from DOST-PCAARRD Accountants.
Resource persons reviewed the checklist of requirements, updated forms, and the State Audit Code of the Philippines, including COA Circulars and accountability guidelines. A financial management format in Excel was also introduced to monitor the budget effectively.

The two-day training imparted useful knowledge to maintain compliance with the program’s regulations and effective financial management of the research funds. The activity gave participants the skills and knowledge necessary to ensure transparency and accountability to strengthen their commitment to the effective implementation of the coconut hybridization program.
