Raising GAD Awareness and Enhancing Skills on Vegetable Gardening of ALS Students and their Parents

In line with the observance of the campaign, adopting the theme, “VAW Free Community Starts With Me”, the Iloilo Science and Technology University Leon Campus joins the nation to raise awareness among employees and partner barangays on gender related laws and inspire them to make a personal commitment to address all forms to end Violence Against Women (VAW).

The Office of Extension and Office of Gender and Development collaborated with the Alternative Learning System (ALS) District of Leon I in conducting this activity, “GAD Awareness and Skills Enhancement on Vegetable Gardening for ALS Students and their Parents” at Brgy. Boloc Tubungan, Iloilo.

The activity was conducted last December 21, 2020 with 15 ALS Students along with their parents as participants. The activity included discussion on GAD awareness and skills enhancement on vegetable gardening.

The activity aimed to promote awareness on gender development among ALS students and their parents; gather public support for the 18th day campaign to EVAW; facilitate the technology transfer to target clientele; and enhance the skills of ALS Students in vegetable gardening.

Before the team left, the participants were awarded with vegetable seeds and farm tools to aid them in their gardening.
