ISAT U Leon-Campus Conducts Capability Training-Workshop
Iloilo Science and Technology University Leon- Campus conducted a 3-day capability training-workshop of faculty and staff with a theme, “Empowerment towards Productive and Excellent Quality Service” at Garilva Junbee Agri-Farm & Leisure Resort, Concepcion, Iloilo last December 7-9, 2023.
On the first day, Dr. Carmelo V. Ambut, ISAT University Vice
President of Research Services discussed
about instruction, research, extension and administration. He advised faculty members to continue their
professional growth by pursuing doctorate degrees and doing researches. Ideally
university should have 90% of faculty who are into research.
In the evening, everyone enjoyed the Christmas party. There were exchanged gifts and games. Faculty and staff socialized with each other that further improved their teamwork and camaraderie.
On the second day, Dr. Julito C. Aligaen, Campus Administrator presented Integrated Learning Management Program (ILEARN), Production as Product of Instructional Research: Adopting the Research-Based Learning (RBL). ILEARN focuses on animal production and crop production on field laboratory. It provides practical learning for students.
Ms. Garily C. Camatison, Quality Assurance (QA) Officer presented QA report. She gave updates on accreditation of course programs and recommendations for enhancement. It was followed by workshop proper and presentation of strategic plan output by head of offices.
Dr. Ricky Becodo , Director of University Extension and Development Center, WVSU Lapaz Campus talked about adult education, extension and best practices. He emphasized that faculty members are not only for instruction but they must also engage themselves in extension and research. “We do not only produce graduates but we conduct research and extension,” he said. He shared the best extension practices in WVSU that can be useful to ISAT U.
The active participation of the faculty and staff made the training-workshop a productive and successful one.
